Drip behind left front wheel
'99 986 Base. Car has not been driven in several weeks. Pulled the battery out to be replaced and when I got back to the shop an hour or so later there was a small puddle behind the drivers side front wheel (2/3 tablespoons maybe). I could see a drip coming from the area just in front of the lift pad. Is there anything behind the wheel liner besides the windshield washer reservoir? The fluid was clear like water but a taste test said otherwise. The car has not been washed. All of the drain intakes in the front collection pan were dry. Any info appreciated.

By the front collection pan do you mean the tray under the battery tray, where water from the cowling would drain?

This one has me kinda stumped because there are not any 'mystery fluids' contained in a Boxster. If it is watery, you named the likely candidates - Washer Fluid and water from the front drains. Other than that, there's tubes for coolant to the radiators, brake fluid, and PS fluid. Or...
Could it be blinker fluid? http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1664400014.jpg |
Brake fluid from brake or clutch master cylinder.

Thanks for the answers. BFeller, yes the pan under the battery. 78F350, I'd forgotten about the blinker fluid. :). It isn't brake fluid or antifreeze.....must be washer fluid. It soaks up clear on a paper towel. Suppose I'll pull the wheel and wheel well liner and check the washer tank. Since it's 23 years old it maybe like the coolant tank in the trunk and has reached terminal age.

Put some cardboard under the car, will help show where it is coming from.
