Aftermarket radio not saving settings?

It’s been years since I swapped out the CDR-220 on my ‘00 boxster (non-Bose), but it’s never saved my settings with the new head unit. Kinda annoying… figured it’s finally time to figure this out!

Can anyone point me in the right direction? Assuming I wired something wrong maybe.

There are usually two power wires for an after market unit. One provides continuous power (for functions like saving your memory settings) and the other provides power when the car is on. The two wires in the head unit connect to different wires in the cars wiring harness. I suspect that you either didn’t connect the continuous power wire or connected to the wrong place in the car’s wiring loom.

If you still have the instructions from your installation that will help you sort out which wire to rearrange. If not, start searching YouTube for a good Boxster head unit installation video.

Good luck.

you have your yellow & red wires connected wrong. Switch them and the issue will most likely be fixed.

+1 for above but understand that when you look at the two wires, you'll think you have them connected correctly. They are basically reversed in factory harness.

Interesting. If I recall, I did color to color matching when installing, so that might be the issue! Hopefully it’s that easy! Gonna pull it apart tomorrow.
