boxster Cluster

I have a question, can a boxster s cluster fit in a 2003 boxster? I understand that it does. but the dials on the boxster s says it goes up to 175 and the boxster says up to 150? would this effect in anyway?!? thanks. I recently change my cluster to an S, everything seems cool, but the milage restart back to 0 and the radio screen went on protect? don't know why. please help if you can. thanks. I went to the dealer and they say that they need the old cluster inorder to update the new one. Is this true? or are they pulling my leg?
the new cluster model number is 986 641 213 00 and I drive a 2003 boxster non-s. just to make things clear.. THANKS for HELPING me.

What about the cluster of 996? Would that fit? Our speedometer is so small that it is rediculous.

I like the cluster layout. The big tach, white faced gauges, the plus the speedometer is good because it has the digital readout(much more usable) under the analog. Who would use the analog when you have the much easier to read digital?
