Suspension recommendations for my 2003 Boxster?
Hi all,
I have a 2003 Boxster that I’ve done all mechanical maintenance stuff last year to… IMS/RMS, clutch, flywheel, tune up etc. I want to freshen up the all original suspension next. My goal is to improve the overall feel and ride of the car and improve handling somewhat. Not looking for anything extreme. Budget is $2000-$3000. Suggestions are appreciated! |
Your budget is realistic
Last year I spent $3500 on a full suspension refresh. I used Meyle and TRW parts.
I went over the top using a Bilstein kit that included Eibach lowering springs and upgraded shocks. If you stay stock on the strut parts you can stay in budget. I refreshed all the strut components and used all porsche hardware. On jackstands in my garage. Buy a spring compressor. If a 68 year old man can do this you can too. Good luck. David |
No need to buy a spring compressor. You can borrow one from most auto parts stores

I just did the front struts on my 2003 996. I had a spring compressor but it felt as if it wasn't really needed. I used it on the first side I did and didn't use it at all on second strut. There was really no tension at all. I'd noticed this with some YT videos I had watched so I'm certainly not the first to go without the compressor.
YMMV. |
