01 Boxster instrument cluster not working when it is cold

My 01 Boxster instrument cluster does not work during cold weather.
The gauges flicker on and off as it gets warmer and then stay on.
This is only a problem during cold weather
Any ideas?

You could disconnect and re-seat the electrical connectors that transmit power and data to the cluster. While you have it apart you can check for visible problems such as water damage. Do you know whether anyone has removed the cluster?

The electrical harness connections to the cluster are notorious for getting brittle with age and breaking.

What is the solution to the electrical harness breaking?
