987 TPMS reset with durametric?

I know some of you have 987s as well so I figured i'd ask. A friend has a 2008 987 base with the tire pressure monitoring system. Hes got the light on the dash for TPMS, he needs to buy replacements (i think battery dies after a few years) and a shop told him he had to use a Porsche tool to configure the TPMS after replacing the sensors.

I have a durametric that I use for my 986, i'm wondering if that's something I can do with it?

Thanks,

Cristian

No, the Durametric system will not do this.

Cristian, on the 987 you didn't require the dealer to reprogram the TPMS system.

Once the tire shop installs the new TPMS's you have to go into the car system by using the small lever on the right side of the steering wheel, first you go to settings, then choose the correct wheel sizes (18"/19"), and thereafter you will get a message showing that the TPMS is not available (it says it is learning..) and after a few minutes of driving, each pressure will show up on the dash.

NOTE: Please mention to your friend that there are two different frequencies (MHZ) on the TPMS sensors and he needs to ensure to order the correct ones (I buy mine from the tire rack) as they provide the correct frequency for your car, good luck!
