Alarm going off randomly

I’ve owned my 99 Boxster base for about a year and half. During this time the alarm has gone off intermittently for no rhyme or reason. I’ve checked the battery, voltage regulator, and the switches for the doors, trunk, and frunk. What else could be causing this? The computer? Any help is appreciated.

Do a search on immobilizer

Same happened to me. Indy mechanic advised me to lock and unlock with key to save money. Eventually you will have to replace alarm/immobilizer and I didn't want to invest in that. Turning your key three times to lock the car and set the alarm is hard on the lock cylinder. Mecahnic replaced the lock cylinder components for me to account for that.

I'm sure someone has a hack.

hack is to replace the immobilizer with new, see if it can be fixed by ecu dr, replace with used and see if your local dealer will program it, replace immobilizer, dme & key heads from someone parting one out (usually around $800)
