Updated Head/Taillights Ebay vs Design911
Has anyone ordered these taillights from ebay?
I've also been looking at headlights from Design911 in the UK. Specifically https://www.design911.co.uk/fu/prod1...r-Porsche-996/ Has anyone ordered either? I'm wondering about the fitment, and longevity. Thanks |
Has nobody bought either of these???

I kind of do.
They were on the car when I bought it. Overall nice, although not my style (multiple LED). Turn signal is fine, so is backup light. The only culprit, but I have no clue who made the lights or how old they are, is that the LEDs started dying and right now out of say 40 of them or so, only about 10 are still working. I knew about it the moment I got the car, so I was planning on replacing them with the 718 style. I got them, installed them, and I am removing them this weekend to send them back. Brake is great, parking is fine, turn signal is unacceptable. When alone it is so so, but if parking light is on, or the brake lights are on - one cannot really see the blinker. At night it could work, but during the day, or in a sunny day - no way. What I am saying is... light assembly design is not easy. Many aftermarkets lack in performance. Looks might be great, but light intensity is bad. |

I bought taillights like these from eBay a couple of years ago. They're typically referred to as DEPO LED tail lights. They work fine, but it's only the brake and fog lights that are LED. If you want to use LED bulbs for the rest of the taillights, which I do, you have to take into consideration that the sockets have reversed polarity, which means special LEDs are necessary.
All in all, I'm quite happy with them. They look great on the car. |
