Replacement Radio for 2006 Boxster
The radio on my 2006 Boxster will not turn on. From research, it appears this is either due to one of 3 fuses in the footwell fuse box, or the fuse behind the radio.
As this is the radio/Cd combo originally installed, this seems like a good time to install a new aftermarket radio. Looking for something with Sirius XM onboard, and that will install easily into the radio location once the old one is removed. I have Bose speakers which work fine. I’ve searched, but have not found any aftermarket yet. Any suggestions on aftermarket radios that will fit, look good, satellite on board? Looking to spend 200 or so plus installation, though less is fine! All best. |
Question - would you be better served getting a head unit with bluetooth capabilities and using the Sirius XM phone app and streaming it? Seems like it will give you the ability to use across your cars and not having to add the satellite antenna.
Do a search on Crutchfield - there are a ton of head units that support adding a Sirius XM tuner if that is the direction you want to go. |
Might want to ask over on Rennlist in the 987 forum. I believe the 987 is canbus and you most likely have the MOST system so it is going to be pricey to keep everything but the head unit stock.
Metra has faceplate/mount which can usually be found on amazon. Also check crutchfield With that said, you wont find a double din with sirius for $200 new. You will need to at least double that if not tripple to get something from Kenwood or Alpine. haven't seen any of the chineese junk even have sirius. Other option is to look on FB market or CL for something used. Your bigger issue is going to be your budget and the BOSE/MOST setup. |
