Stuck Key

Hi all, 2008 Box Base. My key is stuck in the ignition. Heard things about a fully charged batt.not too sure if thats correct. Will try paperclip later. Any thoughts? V

Got it out with the paper clip but it gets stuck again after starting. Maybe the batt. or ignition switch. I will need a new batt at some point so i will try that 1st. V

Hi,
Jiggle the key while pulling outward gently. ...
Wrap one or two ice cubes in a plastic bag and hold them against the key. ...
Stabilize the lock mechanism by pushing against it with one finger or hand while you turn the key with the other hand.

Wd40 specialist dry lube - it's liquid ptfe (Teflon, goretex, you get the idea). Safe for electrical components. Works like a charm on lock tumblers.

You may want to disassemble the ignition switch and fully clean it out. You'd be surprised how many metal shavings and dirt you'll get out of there.

Replacing the battery to fix this issue is a waste, it wont do a thing to fix it.

Replace the ignition switch and spray the lock with your choice of lube.
