Rear water drain question
This is our 98 Boxster, doing regular maintenance I noticed the right rear drain basin was ripped, decided to replace it.
Upon further inspection, I'm confused how this is supposed to work. The "channel" highlighted by the arrow, any water running down this path will likely go under the drain basin and not make it to the drain tube. What am I missing here? It seems any water that goes between this seam will likely end up in the cabin. Easy enough to put some kind of tape or something on there to seal the seam, curious how it's "supposed" to be or if I'm missing some parts. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02/0011623090574.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02/0021623090600.jpg |
Well, once the replacement units arrived it was quite obvious what the problem was.
The only explanation I can come up with is a previous owner didn't want to remove the top to replace the back half of these parts. Hope ye'all got a good laugh out of this one :) http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02/0031623163937.jpg |
What exactly was the problem?
Did you have to remove the entire top in order to replace these pieces? Whenever I wash my car, my driver side seatbelt gets a bit damp/wet. I've cleared the drain holes to the best of my abilities or rather, understanding of the drain system after reading and watching everything that exists on the Internet about it, but can't figure out the problem. |
And don't forget Porsche makes a couple of cute screens to keep the drains clear once you have cleaned them out:
