Oil Switch

Hi,I've been running M1 0w-40 in my 99 Boxster with 135K plus miles. I track the car and was thinking of switching to Castrol Edge 5W-40 any thoughts ?

What is your reasoning for making the switch? Getting an oil analysis done may be a good first step to get a baseline on your engine and oil.

That's what I've been running in mine for the last 80k or so miles.
So far so good.

No reason in particular. A few treads on running an oil a little heavier on the winter side. Although it's mostly in the garage for the winter. I do have a brief hi rev and noise on start up. I've read this normal for a boxster. And I do track it ...so maybe something for more protection. I did have the oil analyzed for a baseline. Does it have to be the same oil type if I do it again? V

Thinking the high rev and noise might be the starter. Consider looking into it.

You would want a few analysis using your current oil before switching, if you want to do a comparison of the analysis between the two oils.

If you want the best protection at the track, then you may want to look at a race oil, but the change intervals are much shorter.

In my opinion, the brand of oil is less important than the frequency of changes.
