Passenger Door Sill Collecting Water

Boxster was out in rain last night. Upon opening passenger door I see the sill indent is pooled with water.

I'm assuming this is coming from window door. Has anyone else seen this happen?

Happens on my wife's 2000. Happens more then it's parked in our driveway which is at a pretty decent incline and less so when it's parked flat like the street or parking lot.

Have you figured out source of water entry?

No. I dont think it's coming through the door/window though.

What shape is the plastic sheet (the one between the door card and the metal door) in? If that isn't in good shape or sealed properly, it can allow water in. My experience during a regulator R&R and it started to rain midway through the project.

he is saying the water collects between the bottom of the door & the sill, not that it comes inside the car which is what that plastic sheet is meant to keep from happening.

If it does the same thing as mine it just collects there and doesn't actually get into the car and as soon as you open the door out rushes the water.

Had indy install new regulator couple years ago and now that I'm thinking back this has happened before. I thought it was from window not going down properly upon opening door and when you close door the top edge sits outside the roof rail.

So I wonder how well they reattached that plastic liner. Since I have to pull door apart to fix the window anyway I'll see how it looks then.

well that shows water getting in the car, not collecting in the sill. the sill is the silver area.

I'm thinking culprit is faulty window stop - if passenger door is closed without pushing top of glass in first the top sits outside of roof rail. I took my granddaughter for a ride the other day and may not have corrected window seal before it rained.

Make sure the water isn't getting under the drivers seat toward the immobilizer. If it does you're going to have bigger issues.

No danger here as it is happening to the passenger side not drivers.
