Windshield antenna alternative
It’s time for a new windshield. Stopped into an auto glass shop today and learned that my current windshield includes the antenna. A new windshield without the antenna is $400. W/antenna $1200. First, does that sound right? Next, is there an aftermarket antenna that is decent?

I had a windshield installed in one of my '99s a few weeks ago.
Here's the info from the glass company receipt: Part number: FW02029GGNNPPG Description: Windshield-(Antenna, PAAS) List: $475.05 Sell: $328.45 With labor and misc charges the total was $496.65 out the door. You might want to take this info to the glass shop and ask questions. Maybe they can decipher the part number and figure out the manufacturer. The new windshield has an antenna and the radio reception is fine. I've found over the years there is a lot of variance between glass shops on prices charged. You might want to check out a few other places with the part number and description above. Good luck! |
The guy at the shop thought he’d need to order the windshield from Porsche. Obviously he didn’t know there were after market windshields with antennas. Thanks so much.

I had my windshield replaced with a Genuine Porsche a couple weeks ago. $800. I’m in the SF Bay Area.
