Can you see the ignition switch in this pic?
Hi, Im trying to replace the ignition switch on my 2007 (my key is stuck in the ignition)
Ive watched very video on youtube and they all show the same thing, a black duct under the dash has to be removed, revealing the switch underneath it. See the pic showing under my dash, it does not appear to match the videos. There is no black duct that spans the space, just an exhaust off to the side. And I cant find anything the looks like the switch from the videos! I have tiptronic, could that make the layout different? Thanks http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1612105437.jpg |
I don't know anything about the tips but I've been under my dash plenty and I can't even tell which way is up in that pic! One thing I can tell you is that if that's a footwell light (bottom right of the pic) then someone has been there before because that's not a stock option that I'm aware of.
Will the key not remove from the ignition or is the ignition barrel seized? You may try spraying wd40 specialist dry lube in ignition to free it. It's a liquid goretex product and is safe to use as a lube on electrical equipment (as opposed to regular wd40 why will fry electrical components - ask me how I know this). I had a hell of a time with my ignition seizing up and not releasing the key (mostly when it was cold outside) and a few squirts of this fixed it. Sent from my POCOPHONE F1 using Tapatalk |
Perhaps a 987 is different from a 986 under the dash... Looking at your picture I am laying on my back, very uncomfortably with the door to the right and the console to the left. The steering shaft universal joint is at the top of the picture so the ignition is between that and the door. I think I see the switch as the white part visible through the slots in the black bracket on the right center of the picture.

I totally missed the MY 2007. No wonder I'm so confused.

I don't see how replacing the switch is going to get the key out of the tumbler.

I'm pretty sure that everything is electric on your car. Link is to a pic of your lock assembly from Pelican.
