Possible to take off power steering reservoir without taking off intake manifold?

Hi all,

I got a 02 boxster. It's been leaking power steering fluid. I went underneath the car, the lines look quite clean, but the reservoir area is very oily messy. I suspect the o-ring that seal the upper reservoir to the lower is bad. Just want to know if it is possible to replace this oring without taking off the intake manifold???

Thanks in advance!http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02/xoxo1599938831.jpg

Yes it is. I recently did it on my 05 S.

It is more likely the o-ring of the lower reservoir to the pump itself. PN 15 in the diagram. Much more time consuming, but can be done with most everything in the car, you have to be creative.

Where can I find directions to get to this o-ring?

Suggest download the porsche PET for the 986. It will have all the part numbers for every available part in it along with the diagrams like above.
