I know, if you have seen one silver Boxster, you have seen them all. But, this is my silver Boxster and I think the wheels look sweet.....

I love those wheel, they look great.
I would love to find a set of the anniversary wheels with the seal grey centers.

Ed, I really like your wheels. Wish I got my Box with the Carrera 19s. Is it me or does anybody else think that Ed's wheels should be wearing wider tires?

I personally think that a 285 will fit the 18x10 much much better. I had 265 on my 18x10 for a few months and it looked funny on the wheel, the tire actually stretches to cover the width. The 285 fits perfectly.

Just my $.02

Wider Tires

Z12358, ouch that hurts about getting wider tires, thats just what I am thinking I need, wider and flatter. I am sure the Falken tires I got with the rims are good in the rain, and they do give a nice quiet, smooth ride, but they are skinny and they are squisshy on the curves. My old 17" Michillins got me spoiled, much better handling, they were rock stable on corners and they are even a little wider than the 18" Falkens.

Tire Size?

Ed,

What size are your front and rear tires?

I'm just about to buy a set of 18" tires & wheels.

Tire Size

Duster my new Falken tires are 225/40 and 265/35 ZR 18, my P/S are 205/50 and 255/40 ZR17.

"Z12358, ouch that hurts about getting wider tires, thats just what I am thinking I need, wider and flatter."

Ed, sorry, didn't mean to be hurtful. Your set-up looks great. It just appeared to me that those (wide) wheels could use wider tires. Or the tires could use narrower wheels. I wasn't speaking about width in absolute terms -- just relative, tire to wheel. I've seen this on many other cars and there are many people that prefer that look. Purely esthetic and personal. Come to think of it, the fact that the tires are stretched across the wheel like that may give you a wider contact patch (even at higher psi) then what you would get if the tire/wheel width ratio was larger.

I also wasn't talking about handling at all. Give those new tires 500 miles before passing judgement.

Enjoy the car!

Z.

Still the best wheel design, in my opinion, and easiest to clean! (bonus!)
