Opinion on 02 Boxster Base price

Hi fellas,

I am looking to pickup and enjoy a weekend Boxster before the summer disappears. I am in the Northeast, came across this example. Looks to be well maintained.
I am unfamiliar with the current market, is the asking price reasonable? What would be a reasonable offer? $8,000?

Also this guys is asking $8,900 for a low mileage example.

Thanks, much appreciate it.

Either seems fair,..as long as the records reflect the work,.clutch, flywheel, IMS RMS,..are the big ticket items on these cars,..But do the PPI to be safe,..and pick the color you like the most..LOL Frank

$8k seems like a fair offer; IMS was already done with other maintenace; get receipts.

Low mileage car seems like better deal, but impossible to tell. Have PPI for complete story. these both have double row ims, so you are low percentage on failure, but first had it done? Both cars are fairly priced if real. Look at options between the 2 also, Th hey make a difference in value.

The '02 might be a good deal. PPI for sure. I'd have to deal with that ripped/worn out drivers seat and get rid of the poorly done overlay on the instruments before I'd be happy with it. Also it's wrapped silver and is originally black. Why? The wrap does look well done in the pictures, but how many years is it good for?

I prefer the '97.

I'd take the '97 because I'm a sucker for Arena Red Boxsters.

Plus the mileage, overall shape of the body/interior, and the double row IMS bearing only sweetens the pot.

Just sayin'.........

p.s I'd definitely insist on an oil filter inspection to check for any debris.
