MAF question

I'm 1000 mi. from home. CEL says 1126 and 1133 plus MAF. Ordered a new MAF from Pelican on Wed. for next day delivery. They shipped Thursday next day air, to arrive Friday. FedEx is suffering a lack of competence and it won't arrive til Tuesday. I planned to drive Pikes Peak, but am concerned about the bad MAF. Is it an issue?

How do you know the MAF is bad?

Clean the MAF using the proper stuff... drive it around... see if the code doesn't clear (or clear it after cleaning the MAF and wait to see if it doesn't resurface.)

The codes could/might/may be associated.

Alternative? Disconnect the MAF connection and drive her home diagnosing her fron the comfort of your own driveway.

Best wishes!

thx. Codes are associated for sure. Used CRC MAF cleaner last week and all was good, CEL went away. About 400 mi. into the trip it returned. Ordered a new one from Pelican to ship overnight. Went to Memphis. They put it on a truck for a 15 hour ride to CO. Now its locked in a container and I can't get it til Tuesday. Not happy with Pelican or FedEx.

I had the same codes and situation as you have when I first picked up my "99. Cleaned the MAF with CRC and cleared the codes. Light returned in about 350/400 miles. Cleaned the MAF a second time and added a can of Techron fuel treatment and cleared the CEL. When that tank of fuel was used up I treated the next tank with the conditioner again. Light hasn't returned in 2500 miles.

Hopefully the new MAF will correct the anomaly.

Yeah... FedEx. I've known them to drop the ball. Pelican... they usually take care of business.

Have you considered driving home w/ MAF disconnected?

I had the same codes and CEL and needed to get tested for emissions before renewing my license. I, sadly, do not wrench so I offered a good friend with a 987 for help, in exchange I will be washing and waxing his car. He asked me to buy a new air filter. He cleaned the MAF and installed the air filter, then got rid of the codes. I drove it normally a few days then went for emissions testing and PASSED! So far, CEL hasn't reappeared.

Had those same codes last year, took me a month of tracking down the issue before everything got sorted out. Check out this video on the P1126 and P1133 codes on my 2001 986S.
