Litronic Headlight Conversion???
Hi Gang,
long time 911 owner/PCA member delving into the Boxster world with the purchase of an 01' s. Immaculate car, low mileage, well-optioned, w/ IMS/RMS/Clutch proactively addressed. As a side note, I'm amazed at how incredibly inexpensive even mint examples of these cars are! I digress... My question - the car I'm purchasing has halogen headlights, and I'm interested in converting to the litronic units. Are they plug and play? Or do they require additional wiring, ballasts, etc.? I've seen conversion kits on Pelican and Suncoast for $3k + (!!!), however, I'm finding excellent used units in the $500/apiece range, but they appear to only include the headlight housing itself, hence my question. I of course did a search, and only one person made mention of the fact that they are plug and play, however the post is old, and I'd like to hear an answer directly from someone now. Looking for any advice regarding the conversion as well (I'm very mechanically inclined, electrical aside!). Thanks much everyone, |
Yes, the units are plug & play using the removal tool in car's toolkit.
Instructions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zeQfR5Q2KlQ If buying used, be sure the units are intact & packaged well as the internals damage easily during shipping. I suggest buying a set that are already 'de-ambered' (removes the orange reflector inside the housing) if you prefer that look. Saves a headache. |
Excellent...thanks a million S&B!!!
Actually I don't mind the amber within the housing, but I'll definitely be swapping my side marker lights for clear units. Thanks again, |
here is an interesting thread as well:
