Steering lock assembly

So....wife’s father gave her an ‘03 base Boxster , have changed all fluids etc. Spark plugs and ignition coils ( was only firing on 2 of the 6 cylinders).

Was told it had a battery issue , thought that was just him not driving it for 5 years ( still had tag stickers from 2015 in glove box ).

Had some staring issues , just thought not driven much , but searched on here and replaced the ignition switch ( needed an ‘04 switch not an ‘03 ).

Other day key wouldn’t turn for wife then me a few days later, again searched on here , did the old turn key while playing with steering wheel and disengaged steering lock to start it.

Once that sort of thing starts I’m guessing it’s best to just replace the steering lock assembly ? And would that assembly of caused the electrical issues/ battery drain stuff rather than the switch attached to it ? Either way one is replaced and assembly is about to be.
