chrome wheels

My 2002 Boxster S came with a set of chrome 17" Boxster S II wheels installed the like of which I have never seen. Researching the car's original build sheet shows that my car had 18" Sport Classic wheels (a $2700 option) when new so these wheels are certainly not OEM. The part number on the back of the wheels does confirm that these are real Porsche wheels but I have not been able to find that chromed versions of these wheels were ever a factory option. I'm hoping that someone that may be able to shed some light on these wheel's origin. Did Porsche ever sell chromed version of these wheels? Did a aftermarket place specialize in selling chromed versions? Is it more likely that a previous owner got ambitious and had them polished and chromed on his own? I really like these wheels so I guess it doesn't matter where they came from but even so, I'm still curious.

cheers - dj
