Dead lock on my boxster

I can't get in my 2001 boxster. The battery is down and the lock on the driver's side seems to be dead; the key turns loosely in the lock.
Is there a program that controls the lock?
It's my first time on the forum...

With a dead battery your power locks won't work, and it appears that the linkage in your door lock is disconnected thus the key turning loosely.

Luckily there's an emergency release cable so you can get into the Frunk and charge your battery.

It's original position is behind the right (passenger) side headlight. You'd have to jack up the car, remove the wheel and peel back the fender liner.

What you're looking for is a stainless steel cable, much like a bicycle brake cable.

If you can't find it there, look for it behind the tow hook cover or somewhere behind the front bumper cover. Some people re-position the cable to a place that's easier to access.

Here's a helpful thread on the subject:

Good luck!

I have opened the front trunk with the flexible wire and recharged the batterie but
my key still won't open the lock on the driver's door; it turns loosely in the lock. Is it broken or can I program it?
Now Ican get in the car whit the button on my key only

Seems like the linkage in your door lock came loose. So your car is not equipped with a remote key? Or is the battery dead in your key?

If your car was not equipped with remote lock/unlock key, then your best be would be a locksmith to get into the car. Then remove the door card to find out what's going on with your mechanical lock.

There's an internal piece of the lock mechanism that breaks fairly frequently. I just replaced it on one of my cars using part of a VW repair kit from Amazon. There's a few threads back through the years that talk about it.
