bad 2nd synchro on '04, will porsche fight warranty?

I just got a call from the dealer, a mis-shifting 2nd gear could be a bad synchro. They are going to take the tranny apart and according to the authorized Porsche dealer, send digital pics to Porsche for warranty approval and to have Porsche approve their recommended fix.

The car is an '04 with 14K on there. I've never heard of a such a thing before. I just bought the car a month ago and brought the problem up to the dealer yesterday when I took it in for its 15K scheduled maintenance. I am the second owner.

Should I be worried that Porsche will deny the claim and not fix under the warranty (which runs till Nov '08 and 35k more miles). Are they really that selective about what they repair under warranty that the dealer has to "prove" a problem?

1st time Porsche owner.

Thanks!
