What fluids to change on newly acquired 01-03 Boxster S ?
 

Friend has this car. Low miles. Assuming all fluids are OEM.
What does this car need, and which can be done at home?

What brands and capacities does he need?

1. Oil/filter
2. Coolant (lifetime?)
3. Gearbox
4. Rear Diff
5. Brake Flush
6. Steering fluid

Anything else?
Anyone know good videos that show the DIY ?

I'd change out all of them... establishing a new baseline. He can do it himself... at home and, with a little Googling/Youtubing. The answers are out there.

Transfer case?
Any special fluids required?

gearbox and rear diff are 1 and the same.

There is no transfer case as its a rwd car.

powersteering takes Pentosin and you need an OAT coolant, but other than that, nothing special

If at all possible, try to use Porsche coolant. Others have said that Volkswagen/Audi coolant is the same, but a lot cheaper compared to Porsche labeled coolant. I haven't tried that myself, but I'm sure others will chime in.

The coolant might be a challenge to do it yourself, but there are a tonne of resources on YouTube and on forums on how to do this. Looks like you've covered it all in your list.

On purchase, I looked to the 90k service schedule as a guide. It is the most comprehensive. I also had a great Porsche mechanic do a PPI that resulted in two pages of comments and even a high G's ride with a racer who shared his impressions as he drove. The 90k plus complete brakes, alignment and new tires were the result.

From there I maintained it. But I started with a car I knew an expert thought had had everything done.

Are you just assuming that to be on the extra-cautious side, or is that likely the case?
