Hi folks, back from a long absence

Hello folks, been away...a mild stroke has kept me at bay. I am feeling back almost 100% now. If anyone ordered a harness I am sorry I was unable to deliver for a while.

I have a question please, I picked up a hardtop locally. The label says it was made in 1999,so a drop-in fit for my 2001 . It seems to give a lot of shifting or whatever you would call it when you go over speed bumps at low speeds. The gaskets or seals look perfect as I was told that this spent its life stored indoors. Any recommendations on this topic ??

PS the top is in white and my car is black....my son said it looks like a Mini Cop Car...which I thought was funny.

Thanks
Dwight

Good to see you back on the forum pdwight. I was just thinking about ordering a harness for the OBC. Hope all is well with you now.
I have 2001S with an early hardtop. It fits fine, but there is a bit of noise on the road when the body flex’s and the rubber makes some noise. Someone here recommended Gummyflege to soften the rubber and reduce the noise. There are some adjustments that could be made to the locking mechanism to adjust the tightness and fit. Send me your email or cell phone, i can send two pages of photos of the adjustment pages I have that are not attaching.

Dwight glad to see you are back , health issues have a way of getting in the way :D . On your hardtop moving issue are you sure you have cam locks in the chassis for the hardtop pins to lock to ? If yes are you sure the top is seating down far enough for the lock handles to engage the spin locks ? When I put my hardtop on it is as solid as a rock .

Welcome back, Pdwight! I hope, you're fully recovered. I survived mine on a special date in 2017:
911 ,no kidding. Took me a few months to recover, but I am back. Even that was PORSCHE related :D

Hi folks, back from a long absence

Congrats on your recovery and welcome back. I have no advice on your hardtop, but my OBC harness is still working flawlessly!

This worked for me when I bought mine and installed it. Inside the hardtop on each side, just above the spin lock levers there are two plastic covers that pop out to reveal three hex head bolts. To adjust the hardtop, secure the A-pillar clamp, then loosen the hex bolts on each side of the top. Have an assistant push forward and down as hard as possible on the hardtop, and tighten the bolts on each side. You may want to lock/unlock the Spin lock levers while doing this. Repeat as necessary. Make sure the Spin lock assemblies are well lubricated. Glad you are doing better, keep an eye on that blood pressure.

Welcome back and so happy to hear of your full recovery!

I don't have any advice on the hardtop, but wanted to say hi.

Welcome back Dwight, glad you are doing well! I have a hard top too and it fits very tightly. My guess is that those 3 hex bolts on each side for adjustment need to be tightened. You should also make sure there is a Pin Cap Cover, part number 986-563-625-03 on both of the two tabs at the leading edge of the hardtop which go into the top of the windshield header. #16 in the diagram below. But in my experience, if those are missing the hardtop makes more noise over bumps, it doesn't make it move.

My hardtop is rock solid when installed. I echo the notion, I think the depth of the spin locks is adjustable.

Glad to hear of your recovery. Safe travels.

Making fun of someone's health issue is not cool , it adds nothing to the conversation . It's ok to disagree on issues but silly comments about someone's health is kindergarten crap .

BYP, I think you'd better explain yourself and this post, before we all assume the worst from your intentions.
