Brake Pad Clarification

I don’t know why I am having such a difficult time finding out on my own, so I apologize for the newbie post.

For a 2001 Boxster 986 - do front and rear brake pads differ in any way? Thinking of picking up a set of Brembo pads that I found on Facebook marketplace for cheap, but want to make sure that I am buying a full set (front and rear - 8 pads total) before I pull the trigger. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

The rears are larger and thicker IIR.

Really? I'll have to double-check mine. Most cars are the opposite. You want more brake force to fronts so the rears don't lock up first.

Front and rear are different.
If you have intention of working on your car, do yourself a favor and a buy the “101 projects for your Boxster” book, or at least read the articles here: https://www.pelicanparts.com/boxster/boxster_tech.htm

Info from Brembo (since you are looking at Brembo pads)

The front pads are definitely much larger than the rear pads.

As such, the front and rear brake pads will have different part numbers (regardless of the pad manufacturer).

Sorry, yes, fronts are larger and thicker, not rears. I had a brain fart.

Front brakes are generally bigger than rear brakes. On a 986, they are definitely different front and back
