Throttle body was nasty!

Wrapping up my maintenance list for the winter. I was having a little white smoke on cold starts, switching to motul made it better. But did not know if the aos had ever been replaced and at 88k miles figured I would change it and clean the throttle body. Man this thing was nasty, I cant believe it was running as good as it was. I broke open the aos and there were no tears in the diaphragm?? Not sure why there was so much oil in there? There was oil puddled in the tubes running to the throttle body. Cleaned everything up and man this thing purrs like a kitten now!!https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...2d11e5d09f.jpg

I was getting a lot of surging and some white smoke at startup. I cleaned everything from the intake to the plenum behind the throttle body and now she runs sweet.

What type/kind of air filter do you use and how often do you replace it?

I'm using a K&N high flow filter, and I don't replace it, I clean and reuse it. I'm pretty sure that the cabon build up you see in KBoggs's photos have nothing to do with the airfilter. More likely it's a PVC valve or AOS issue, but that's just a guess.

I just got the car in November. It had a standard paper filter in it that needed changed. I also replaced the aos which I think was the culprit.
