Question for you classic 911 fans

There is a shot of the dash showing what appears to be a red faced dial. What is that?

Blow it up, it looks more like a light than a dial.
Shift light, maybe? https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...ae9da471f7.jpg

I think Maytag got it mostly right. It looks like the lens of a tail light or trailer light. A pic of an original dash shows a clock belongs there. Maybe someone took out the clock and put in a shift light?

Or maybe the clock was just inop and they covered it with the red lens.

Also note how the tach was rotated so you know to shift when the needle pointed straight up...

Oil pressure warning light. Something you don’t want to see glowing red.

It is indeed an oil pressure light. Not sure if the link below will be visible. Heres the decription from the website.

"Low Oil Pressure Indicator Light All PORSCHE 911 / 964 / 993 & Turbo Models. Specially designed to replace and fit in place of the dash mounted clock - 80mm Dia. Black Anodized Billet Aluminum Bezel and bright warning light. Includes wiring to redirect from original oil pressure indicator gauge. Specially designed to get your attention when driving to avoid engine damage on low engine oil pressure. Ideal for Historic Race & Rally cars"

Interesting, I was at DPC in PD Monday. They have some awesome vehicles. The Porsches are great, but that yellow Corvette... in person... wow. Also the Datsun Z. Both could park in my driveway anytime... particularly the Vette.

What is DPC in PD?
