Its simple enough .. pic is below, vote on poll above.

Pics are of a Cayman, but what do you think it would look like on a Boxster?

looks better on a hard top. PLus its alittle Lambo-esk...and would be like dressing a pig in a prom dress. I mean i love my car and i love the way that looks on the cayman but its making a bold statment about your cars power and agility.

Would look better on a 986 if the www.zeintec.com hard top was instaled prior to fitting that body kit.

KronixSpeed 10-12-2006 06:22 PM

you can't tell what this would look like on a boxster.......its far too sketchy.

any thing other then the stock bumper on a boxster will look good....now draw that bumper on the boxster and i'll take one for sure.

vijen6 10-12-2006 07:29 PM

Acutally i WAS going to make this bumper myself, but wanted to get feedback before I started cutting into it.

Its either this design or the carrera gt knockoff design.
http://gtpark.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/1871039561/m/8121025002

but the carrera gt knockoff is also a white box, so .. kinda wanted to be different .. without being ricey / euro trash.

Seems like the forum dont like this bumper style too much. =]

not to be a grammar nazi, but the correct phrase is "Couldn't care less for it."

KronixSpeed 10-13-2006 05:25 AM

it's too hard to see what it would look like on a boxster. show me what the bumper will look like on the boxster and more people will post opinions.

It's really difficult to judge unless it's on a Boxster. Mind you, I like the look on a cayman.

ok I think I see what you are trying to do. You are working on a bumper project, so everything below the rear trunk and tail lights?

Sometimes when I look at the Boxster from the side (left or right) It does seem to me that the stock bumper sits up too high. Meaning there is too space bettween the the very bottom edge of the bumper and the ground. I noticed this especially on the TechArt Caymans.

tHE design you have is too busy. I think making extend lower would be a good idea. Perhaps with some kind of opening for the rear exhaust. Keep it simple.
I wouldn't add all these openings. Maybe I might add the 911 'fins' that you might see on some models, they go on the extreme left and extreme right.

RandallNeighbour 10-13-2006 06:48 AM

I agree with perfectlap on the stock rear bumper. It needs to be about three inches lower than it is. However, if it screws up aerodynamics or causes the exhaust to get any hotter, it should be left alone.

I can already cook a pizza in 30 minutes or less in my rear trunk!

KronixSpeed 10-13-2006 07:18 AM

hey check this bumper out, looks pretty cool.

i don't really like the middle metal piece around the exhaust. i agree with randall and perfect lap the rear bumper needs to sit lower. when i look at the rear on an angle from a distance it needs to sit lower. this is only a problem if you start adding skirts and front bumpers, then it kinda is off balance.

is this something that you can do in quantity....i would be very interested!

Perfectlap 10-13-2006 08:39 AM

I like the spoiler on that, its basically the Carrera GT. That sorta goes with 986 style.
But I don't think those intakes? outakes :) under the tali lights work at all.
The fenders on the 986 have soft curves and I really don't like when I see
these hard Import Tuner-like features. I'd take that out for sure.

The best car to look at if you want to modify the rear end of a 986 is a 2000-20003 Ferrari 360. It doesn't have any of these gimicky features. It relies on the very subltle shapes and lines. I feel like the Boxster went a bit wimpy in this department for its front and rear bumpers in stock form.

Now another glaring problem with that car^
The Boxster is a sports car made for the twisties in top down fun.
That car looks like it wouldn't handle a full opposite lock turn for more
than two seconds before the rubber departed the alloy.

and those side skirts... get them back on the SCION TC.

I like the wing on the Yellow Box in the pick...Anyone ever seen it for sale?

vijen6 10-13-2006 09:41 AM

Kronix, that yellow box you posted, the sideskirts I like, however, I think the rear is a bit too 'fat'. It makes the box looks very rear heavy and not nimble at all.

vijen6 10-13-2006 09:53 AM

Perfect clap, yes, this woud be a bumper project only. I wouldnt be modifying anything above the spoiler / trunkline.

And did you mean vents like these?
