Tinting my Ambers!

[SIZE=4]Following a discussion on this site- I decided (in line with the general opinion) to give my ambers another tinting coat- here's the results. I also tinted the rears (here's a shot with one side complete and the other side un-touched - I will also laquer these)

No Paint

One coat

2 Coats

A good result for $10!

Planning on tinting the headlghts and the windshield, next?
Last night I was driving behind an A4 with barely visible back lights which only flickered a bit stronger when he applied his brakes. I thought his lights were off, but when I passed him he had his front lights on. Rear-ending waiting to happen.

What makes you think that "enough" light will go through all these layers of paint and lacquer?

Z.

I checked if on some glass first - the rears are only reduced by about 20% (Only put one coat on) and the fronts (which are just the indicators) by about 30%. It was my concern too especially with the reverse lights as I need those to help me not hit my neighbour's car when I reverse out the garage in the morning.

I'm confident these are still within safety levels... I don't want to be rear-ended either...especially not by another Porsche owner...damaging one beautiful car is bad enough..damaging two is terrible!

The locals have played around with tinted tail lights and different bulbs.

You can replace the single filament bulbs with dual filament bulbs that give you about twice the light.

Thanks- yes, that's another option I'll consider...especially I can't see my neighbour's car in the morning

why not just paint the orange part of your tail lights red with the transparent red paint?

Red is a whole different animal than black. Black is the same everywhere but shades of red are hard to match, especialy with a reflective red. Itd be like painting half a road cone with regular orange paint, just wouldnt work.
