Starting a wheel refinishing project soon.

Going to have to wait for a warm weekend or get a heater, but thought I would throw out my plan. We have a white box, and I have been looking at pics on what color wheels, white, black, silver or custom??? Wanted to like black but just not sold long term, so with wifes input were staying silver. But I had to do something a little different than plain silver!

Going to prep, prime, and spray gun paint them silver, then a few coats of this sterling silver candy pearl! Then Matrix 2 part clear coat. Keeping fingers crossed it looks great. Will post up pics of how they turn out!

Why not polish them? That'll give you the luster better than any clear can do.

I've never tried to spray any candy paints. Should come out cool being a pearl and all.

That Badboyz Black Wheels Style died way back in 2018 here where I am, they all went gunmetal ('shades of grey') for some reason. I'm possibly the last one in town sporting semi-gloss black wheels lol

Thought I'd add this to your thread, perhaps trying to influence your & her decision, meet in the middle kinda thing :D

Looking forward seeing the result, glw-project! (and the weather)

They are painted factory now, would need a lot of work to strip and pilosh?

Dunno, possibly lol. Its all flat grey tones here. They even go on replicating the tone of titanium and recently seen 5% iridium coating also, which actually looks killer btw.

Sport/Super Car Wheels == like women shoes, you know!

Depends on the wheel design.

Which wheels do you have? The 5 spoke ones I have on my car would be super easy to polish.

I can imagine that the "lobster claw" wheels might be a pain to sand down and polish.

It would definitely be easier to scuff them up and paint them, but if you want to look good and different... polish. :D

I have 2 sets to paint, the standard twist and the S version twist. I havent seen any polished, but already spent $200 on paint supplies and clear!

Shoot with 8 wheels might as well try and polish one. See how it looks. I mean you're gonna sand them down a bit anyway, just throw some etching compound and primer on the one wheel you polish if you don't like it. Just my $.02

Post some pics before and after whatever you decide. ;)

Well Fred, you got your way! I helped ttgator paint his wheels, and after my wife saw them and set them next to our car she decided she loved it! I just did a spare set of wheels I had, but had to go glossy...not flat.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...59655fb5d8.jpg
