I just picked a '97 that has 184k miles. It has many of the typical minor issues: top not working, window drop issue, and some minor dents to fix (or not). It needs a good 'going over', but it runs and drives great. $2,500 total written up as $1,300 for the hardtop and $1,200 for the car. A car like this makes a great weekend/second car (or 12th car in my case). :o

I think you still have me beat Rick. I was counting tagged and insured cars, not just Boxsters.
For 986s on hand I'm at: the 'new' '97, 2 x '99, 2 x '01, the '04 SE, '01 parts car is just in boxes now, my 2000 S has changed status to a parts car, and my '02 S parts car is pretty well gutted.

It *is* too many. Tires get dated before they wear, oil changes take a bulk buy of filters and oil, and basic maintenance keeps me busy. ...but I still enjoy it.

That car looks familiar. Wasn’t it on the local Craigslist for $3,000?
I tried to contact out of curiosity a few weeks ago, but there was no contact info on the ad. Interested to see how a high mile sub-$3,000 986 does, so I’ll be looking for updates. ;D

Yes, that's the one. In Tuttle and it was listed under "Auto parts". The seller was pretty easy to deal with, but was tired of people expecting a perfect car or just wanting to buy the hardtop. I offered a cash-in-hand deal with no 'tire kicking' and a trailer to take it away. I probably could have got it for $2k like that, but I'm happy.
