I just picked a '97 that has 184k miles. It has many of the typical minor issues: top not working, window drop issue, and some minor dents to fix (or not). It needs a good 'going over', but it runs and drives great. $2,500 total written up as $1,300 for the hardtop and $1,200 for the car. A car like this makes a great weekend/second car (or 12th car in my case). :o

C'mon Jon - you're leaving me in the dust. I'm stuck at 8...

For 986s on hand I'm at: the 'new' '97, 2 x '99, 2 x '01, the '04 SE, '01 parts car is just in boxes now, my 2000 S has changed status to a parts car, and my '02 S parts car is pretty well gutted. It *is* too many. Tires get dated before they wear, oil changes take a bulk buy of filters and oil, and basic maintenance keeps me busy. ...but I still enjoy it. |
That car looks familiar. Wasn’t it on the local Craigslist for $3,000?
I tried to contact out of curiosity a few weeks ago, but there was no contact info on the ad. Interested to see how a high mile sub-$3,000 986 does, so I’ll be looking for updates. ;D PS: hopefully the top is something as simple as a hand brake switch. |

I'll put a build thread in the "Show and Tell" section next week. |
Too cool, glad it went to someone on here that understands Boxsters.
I can’t argue about the guy’s frustration with CL. I don’t sell stuff on there or the Marketplace anymore because of such a high volume of insufferable wishy-washy weirdos you have to deal with on there these days. |
