Boxster S Tiptonic -2004. Will Not Start
 

Hi All.

Hopefully someone can help..........
So my 2004 Boxster failed to start a few weeks ago. All lights came on dash but as soon as I go to crank it...... nothing.

I found water under the seat, removed the alarm immobiliser and it was corroded :mad:. Sent this away along with the ECU and Keys, and had it fixed with a specialist, who say that the ACU and DME are reporting that the system in NOT immobilised, and all keys are working.

Checked the battery, fully charged.

What else could this be, and how would be best to test to find out the issue. Im getting frustrated now as the car is just sitting there - im sure it even looks sad!!

What happens when you turn the key?

Do the dash lights go dim, or stay bright?

Are there any clicks? Any other symptoms that might indicate that the ignition switch is faulty? eg key is sometimes hard to get out, dash lights sometimes stay on when the key is switched off...

Off the top off my head it does not dim, and there are defo no clicks.
Anyway i can test the ignition switch?

I'm not sure how you would, sorry. I imagine that there would be a pin on the alarm unit that gets 12v if the ignition switch is working. I just went to each for my workshop but it's been moved by The Boss and she's asleep.

Kinda sounds like the issue I had with my 01 Boxster S. However, after sending my key, immobilizer, and ECU in for repair, the car now runs. Here is a video on how my car acted before the fix.

Water damaged immobilizer? How? The car looks like it hasn't seen a wet sponge or a drop of water since, well, 2001. ;)

Have you tried starting in neutral with your foot on the brake pedal ?

I sent mine off and it still did not work this is the results

"The control unit following repairs has been completely bench tested, as well as burn in tested on the test bench for 48 hours without glitches.

The ACU and DME are reporting that the system is not immobilised when both the keys remotes are used on the bench test jig, It also is unlocking and locking the car, as well as activating the luggage and boot release.

I have also lacquered the main circuit board to protect it a little more than standard, but obviously you need to make sure the drains are completely clear on the car of any debris... Once you think they are clear, please pour boiling water from a kettle down them, as this will kill and clear any remaining growths of moss or mould."

Tried to start in neutral but still didn’t work

Check the switch on the brake pedal. Sometimes you can wiggle it and get it to start. Cheap enough to replace.
