steering wheel size
Question? been trying to find the dimensions of the four spoke and three spoke steering wheels. Thinking of upgrading to the three spoke but if the size is identical, it may not be worth the investment. Also, been thinking of going completely aftermarket ( pricey), but with a air bag and flat bottom of steering wheel for more leg room. Anyone have any suggestions.

I'm pretty sure the wheel diameters are the same & I'm positive the 3 spoke is better.

I replaced my 4 spoke with a 3 spoke a few months ago. They were the same size/diameter, but the 3 spoke adds at least 10 IHP.:)

If it's for leg room, don't you need just as much leg room when you're turning? |
I still have my OG 4-spoke and airbag. Hated. It. IMHO... 4 spoke steering wheels are for sedans, not **************** Porsches.
I purchased and installed the 3-spoke steering wheel... looks much nicer... and looks like it belongs in the car. |

Once you try it, you will not want to go back to round. Mine below. Note the blue thread, tied to the color of the car. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1576449517.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1576449563.jpg |
I’ve got a flat bottomed wheel as well. This particular wheel is smaller overall as well. For me it is 100% a leg thing. Due to a hip issue, I was having a difficult time getting into the car with the stock wheel. The flat bottom makes it much easier. I will admit it is a little odd when doing full rotations, but it’s not a big deal, and I like the way it looks. Plenty of race wheels with flat bottoms...

I also really like my smaller diameter, flat bottom, thicker rim wheel for the reasons already mentioned. Driving my wife’s S5 (which comes standard with this type of wheel) sold me.

Last two pictures are what I'm looking for. Thicker wheel, flat bottom and smaller diameter. I like the three spoke much better. I'm looking for just a little more space than stock at the bottom of the wheel. Just not sure where to start the process of upgrading.
