2008 rs60 price
Does anyone know where I can find out what a 2008 rs60 with 45000 miles is worth.kbb doesn’t show this car. Also this car is silver with red interior but has a black top. I thought they all came with a red top with the red interior. Thanks jimbo

KBB probably doesn't list a value for it because there are so few of them -- only 1960 sold worldwide, and I think I read that only about 800 were sold in the US. Once you start trying to get more specific with the mileage, the sample size gets even smaller.
You might try looking at the 987 Boxster-specific page on Bring A Trailer to see if any similar ones have sold there. And speaking of BAT, there have been two RS60s listed in the last two weeks, one of which I think ends tomorrow, both of which have had red interior with the dark gray (black) top. You could get all red, all gray, or red interior with gray top. Not sure about the opposite combo. JO |
It seems these have bottomed out on depreciation and are hovering around $32.5K depending on mileage. The special editions of 2008 (there were 3) tend to price out at the top of the 2008 price guides for Ss but have a hard ceiling with the 2009 S. No one will pay ultra top $ for a 2008 when they can have a 2009 S with the 9A1 engine instead unless they desire the uniqueness of a Limited Edition or Design Edition 2 or RS60. However, when you add up all the special S models of 2008, there are probably double available compared to 2009 Ss. Production #s for 2009 were down significantly due to the stk mkt crash (1900 total Boxsters sold in US, prob 650 were S). There were 250 LEs, 800 RS60s, and 500 DE2s (not sure how many US).

And then I found the one I ultimately ended up buying, a 3-owner RS60 in Columbus, OH, with 69k miles. The entire front end had been repainted, and it will probably need new tires in the spring, but I got it for $24.5k. I wouldn't question $32k for a lower-mileage RS60, but cheaper ones do turn up. Mileage and condition have a huge impact on price with these cars. The ones bringing the higher prices will be < 40K mi, no paintwork, and manual trans. Yes, you can find lower priced examples with 50-60K mi. And most Porsche buyers do not want cars that have been painted, so price drops accordingly if panels have been painted. I've seen the ad for the RS60 in LA for $28.5 but I think it has 50K+ miles (the ad has either expired or he sold it). I tossed around buying it as a Wheeler Dealer car, but it had a few too many miles for me to make anything on it. My experience has been it's harder to sell a Porsche when they get over 40K mi, not impossible, but harder. I chuckle sometimes because if my 2 cars came up for sale (they won't, so don't get excited Frodo), I wouldn't buy them to resell because they both have too many miles (60K). But if you're willing to put up with higher miles, there are good deals out there.
Also in play are the asking prices of 987.2 Ss. I'm shocked at some of the prices I've seen on these - anywhere in the $30s with quite a few in the mid to upper $30s. I had a guy in SF wanting me to find him a 987.2 Box S with PDK. I looked for 5 mo. and couldn't find anything that was reasonably priced with decent miles. Since I started my 928 project, I'm less inclined to buy something right now, so I helped him buy a 981 Box S. Plenty of those available. So the 987.2 prices raise the ceiling on the 08 special editions. And all these are asking prices, but aren't out of line when you see 06 Cayman Ss in the mid-20s. My guess is the BAT car bids up to $30K and is RNM. |

When the one popped up in Columbus, only 3.5 hours from home, I couldn't resist. The mileage thing is funny. I didn't want a car that's "all used up", but I bought it to drive, so I'm not too worried about it. I'll probably put about 5k miles / year on it, and I definitely wouldn't want one with low enough mileage that I'd have to think about what I was doing to the value of it every time I started it up. And I know what will happen to the front end of it driving it in Michigan, so the repaint didn't bother me in the least. :-) |

If anyone's still interested in this discussion, there are currently two RS60s listed for sale in the PCA Mart classified ads.
One has a red interior and red top, with 24,600 miles. Asking price is $33k. The other has the dark grey interior and top, with 45,200 miles, and the asking price is $30,150. (I have no relationship to either seller or knowledge of either car other than what's shown in the ads.) |
Does the rs60 have an options sticker in the trunk area.the car I’m looking at doesn’t have it.
