Oil burp
 

Last weekend I went for a spirited drive. Pulled into the garage, then backed out to allow the wife to put her car in the garage. When I backed out I noticed a small puddle of oil under the left side of the engine on the garage floor. I have monitored it for the last 4 days and there are no puddles drops etc. the oil level is unchanged but it’s weird that it burped once and now it’s back to normal. Anyone else experience this? 04S with tiptronic 37k miles on the clock. - Rick.

Did you check on the car for where exactly the oil is coming from? Are you certain it's coming from your car?
Recently I had a similar scenario. Long story short, the oil puddle was actually from my truck.

Have you identified what kind of oil it is? Motor oil, tranny fluid, PS fluid? Also, have you driven it during these days that you were monitoring it? Some leaks don't manifest themselves unless the car is driven.

Mine has a small axle seal leak. It only makes occasional stain on the garage floor, and only after driven a bit hard. But mine has 92K miles, I can't imagine an axle seal going bad after 37k miles. But it's worth checking anyway.

If your “spirited drive” took you into high rpm/redline zone for any length of time, you might take a peek at the p-s pump/reservoir. One reason that we use UDPs at the track is that these pumps don’t really like the sustained high revs. The brilliantly placed overflow tube tends to dump fluid on the front left side of the engine.

Yes i’m sure it was from mine, it was engine oil, and have continued to drive it with no issues. My drive was spirited but not close to redline. Thinking about it and the oil overflow tube I had the oil changed a week or so before this happened. I’ll keep an eye on this and repost if something weird happens. -Rick

So here is maybe an obvious question - did you crawl under the car (Jacked up of course unless you are very, very thin person) and look???

Left side (Driver's side) would be where the Oil filter canister is. I believe there is an AOS oil venting line as well. Also Spark plug tube leaking could be a possibility

Gotta get under and snoop around, It's beautiful under the rear of a Porsche Boxster

And I don't know what you're calling an oil overflow tube. ?
