Porsche Boxter 986 2.7 smoking still after AOS Change
Hi Guys,
Has anyone know a way around diagnosing the problem I have here. The car had a ton of smoke coming out the back - replaced the AOS - it still is smokey but not as much - upon observation it seems like an unburnt fuel smell. Changed the oil - changed the coolant - replaced sparks and O2 sensors. Done a diagnostic test with the durometric software - got the following error codes. Cleaned the plenum internally and replaced the throttle body. PO300 - Porsche fault code 62 - Misfire damaging to cat converter PO301 - Porsche fault code 63 - Cylinder 1 misfire damaging to cat converter Can anyone shed some light on next steps?? Thanks in advance. |
I don't know about the smoke, but you can try swapping the coil from cylinder 1 with another cylinder. If the misfire moves to the other cylinder you need a new coil.

most likely a bad coil and/or cracked spark plug tube. I would do AOS also if I didn't know the age or mileage. Typically when one coil/tube fails the rest aren't that far behind. Might as well do them all, all new plugs and throw in an AOS. Clear the codes after and then take it for a drive.
