Question: Driver side Front Bumper Hole

Hi folks,

I've owned my Boxster for well over a year and only noticed this now, but there's a small notch/hole on the front driver side bumper at the amber triangle (circled in red.)

I recall there being one on my 996 C2 as well. Is this normal? Or is my bumper abnormal in which it may have been goofed around with, or been in an accident? Thanks in advance.

The hole is on all the bumpers. You shouldn't be able to see it though. Your bumper cover is not on correctly.

There may be a hole on each side. I noticed mine, prominently, when the first time I didn't properly "seat" my bumper cover after removing it.

I'm thinking at one time your cover was removed... and someone didn't line up that side.

Nothing to worry about.

That didn't answer your question, "For what are they?", but a rocket scientist soon will chime in.

Edit: Tommy the RS chimed in. Thanks Tommy.

Wow, that was quick. Thanks for confirming, gents. I thought I was going crazy.

Any tips/tricks on how to properly line up the bumper to hide this hole?

They're cutouts for the washer jets

Good to know! Thanks!

My "holes" were bugging me for near a year (last I had removed cover). Figured that if all the screw/hardware holes lined up perhaps it was a bumper drain of sorts

When last I cleaned the rads I just snugged the cover in and lost 50%+ of those "holes".

Washer jets. Got it.
