Airbag warning light

Came on the other day. Are there any common causes for this? I put new rubber grommets in the steering wheel earlier this summer because the Horn was beeping occasionally. Never had the light until this week tho. Suggestions?

Did you by chance pull the front seat for something? If so, and you turned the ignition on without the harness under the seat connected then you'd get an airbag light.

If you didn't do anything that would cause the light, then you'd have to have it scanned to find out what the problem is.

Could be the seatbelt. On mine the driverside seatbelt latch sensor was bad and I had to replace it.

Scan it and get the code(s), replacing parts without actually knowing what is wrong is stupid and generally a waste of time and money.

In addition, you will need the scanning tools to reset the light after repair.

Do you mean the Porsche scanning tool or would a generic ODB2 tool show me codes related to the airbag light? I have an Autel AutoLink. It is showing no codes on my 2000 base Boxster.

I have several scan tools and the only one that cleared the airbag light on the Porsche was my Durametric. There may be others that can do it, but I don't know of them.

That. And I know that there is Launch that can do it.

Thanks. It appears the Launch scanning tools come in a wide range of prices. From $46 to thousands on Amazon. Any idea which model will clear the airbag light?

Also, I noticed the lever for adjusting the seat back on the drivers side appears broken. Have no idea when nor how that happened.

Possibly a dumb question-has anyone ever tried disconnecting the battery to reset the airbag light?

Doesn't work. I tried.

Darn. I was doing work on my door recently and needed to adjust the window. Forgot to plug the airbag back in before doing so.

The Launches that I did it with is in the thousands. If I were you a durametric would be the best choice.
