Painting Rear Bumperettes

Anybody out there ever paint their rear bumperettes?

I plan to paint the bumperettes on my 2001 Boxster to match the body color. Do I need to sand them to get rid of the minor texture before I spray on adhesion promoter, primer, color coat & clear coat?

Any first hand advice or knowledge would be greatly appreciated.
