Key fobs not working
 

I have a 2000 Boxster S and both the key fobs stopped working - neither will open the doors or the trunk. Both keys work fine manually starting the car and unlocking the doors.

Both fobs have new batteries and the LEDs blink when either button is pushed - the door button blinks one pattern than the trunk a different pattern. There appears to be no issues with the micro-switches in the keys.

I have tried the following to re-link the keys to the car and nothing has worked:

1. put a key in the ignition and turn on the accessories
2. turn off the accessories and and remove the key
3. within 5 seconds, press and hold the lock door key for 5+ seconds

1. put one key in the ignition and turn on the accessories
2. place the other key in the door lock
3. while holding the unlock door button, lock and unlock the door 2 times
4. release the unlock door button and remove the key from the door

Any suggestions for what am I doing wrong?
