Want to replace rusted lug bolts
 

I see a lot about going with studs. I have a ‘99 Boxter with the upgraded wheels. They are silver. I’m up with going with studs and nuts. I see this link to studs. What nuts do I need?

Do I need spacers?

Assuming the wheels used Porsche lugbolts, you neeed ball nuts that match the thread of the studs.

Spacers will depend on the offset of your wheels and if you want to move than out a bit or not. If the wheels were good with lugbolts, then they will be good with studs

Why not remove a couple of lugs from each wheel, sand and paint. When paint is dry, install and take two others, Whole thing doesn't take that long and it'll look way better and cost nothing more than a can or two of spray paint.

Take a piece of cardboard and poke holes big enough to put the lug nuts through....This will keep you from painting threads. Easy DYI!

Left over black caliper paint works great on the stock lug bolts.

I did the paint thing (Silver). I just keep that paint handy as about every other time you remove them they need touch up.
I like the idea of going to studs, I'm just to damn lazy to go out and measure what size I would need. I also have to (2) of those aluminum tire guides so that make putting tires on much easier

Studs vs bolts .....

If you chamnge your wheels a lot, studa are the way to go. If you start trackingyourcar, you will likely change the wheel/tires a lot, sometines 2 or 3 times in a weekend. Studas save time and make it a lot easier to change the wheels.

If you don't change your wheels/tires often, stay with bolts, unless you are adding sopacers and don't want to spend the big$$ for the longer bolts, or the longer bolts may not be long enough with thick spacers

If the OP's primary interest here is mostly cosmetics (not liking the rusty look), places like eBay sell sets of plastic lug bolt covers for cheap - like $5.00 or so for a set cheap. And in a choice of colors, too.
