Windows at unequal height

Hello all

Wondering if anybody can help here. Pulling on the driver's side door handle of my '98 RHD Boxster to open the door causes the window to drop as you would expect, but it's accompanied by an annoying creak regardless of whether the hood is up or down. The window operates fine in all other respects and there is no obvious groaning or crunching from the regulator.

I was doing some work on this issue yesterday and noticed that the driver's side window sits a few mm higher than the passenger side when both doors are open (or closed, for that matter) and I am wondering if this is the source of the noise i.e. the driver's window (the higher of the two) is rubbing against the seals on the door.

In the attached photos, both doors are open and the windows have dropped about the same distance from their respective starting points. The passenger side is the lower of the two, and this window rises up to sit flush with the seals when the door is closed in what I would expect to be the "correct" operation.

I've tried the battery disconnect, window reset procedure described elsewhere on the internet but to no avail. Having removed the driver's side door card I can see masking tape on the glass around the brackets that secure the glass, which suggests to me that the regulator has been replaced at some point in the car's life.

Any ideas how I can get the driver's side window to line up with the passenger side?

Many thanks

if you take your door panel off an GENTLY peel back the foam sheet underneath, you will see some adjusters in the window mechanism for the window heights. (purple arrows)

You don.t have to take the door panel off.
You can access those adjusters from the bottom of the door.
There should be rubber plugs covering the access holes.
