Good deal?
Hi,
I am looking at replacing my 2001 BMW M roadster. I found a 2005 Boxster S/BOSE/windstop/BiXenon/19" Carrera S wheels/PASM/SportChrono. The biggest part is that it has 1500 miles, and looks new. Is $45k a good deal? (Non Porsche dealer) The other choice is a 2005 Boxter S/BOSE/PCM 2.1/Adaptive Seats/BiXenon/Sport Chrono/19" Carrera S wheels/ 12k miles. $46k from a PRIVATE party. Which one would you get? Thanks |
The low mileage option sounds like a very good deal. The best price I have seen on a low mileage Boxster S in this area was $49, most are in the low to mid $50's.
Just verify the history, and have the Porsche dealer look it over, then I would go for it. You will love it :) |
Either one of those sounds like a good deal, what are the colors?
Mileage aside, it seems like you're weighing the driving fun of PASM vs the PCM/Adaptive seats. I have PASM but the car would be just as fun without it. I hear great things about the adaptive seats and the PCM is one of the better NAV systems out there, so I like the optioning of choice two better. However, only 1500 miles on a car that's close to two years old sounds like a no-brainer to go with option 1. Alot of abuse can be heaped on a Porsche over 12,000 miles, particularly with a manual transmission. I'd also add $1000 on to the price of option two as it will need new rear tires sooner rather than later. |

Just a side note, I have had 2 prior M Roadsters. You will not regret the swap to the Boxster S. It is a totally different vehicle... more civilized and precise but a very similar driving experience to the M Roadster. I consider it an upgrade! Best of luck! |
Colors...
Both are Yellow (top)/Black/Black. I think I need a change form my past blue (3 BMWs) and Red (x2). And I know, I'll regret the decision after the first ticket :)

1500 miles with sport chrono? Put a deposit on it ASAP. Get it checked out at the dealer (was Katrina in 05 or 04?) if something goes wrong you only lost $100 or whatever rather than losing a great deal.

It's on the way...
I got the 2005 S with 1500 miles. It is getting shipped down to me (I am 500+ miles away) on a trailer. I got it sight unseen, but the carfax was clean, and I had them sign a ammendment that they would buy the car if it was a flood/water damaged.
It will be here on Wed. Need to get all my detailing stuff out :) Thanks for all your help! (I'll be back soon) |

Post some pictures ASAP. I would recommend an oil change when you first get it. And don't forget, you need to drive about another 500 miles to complete the engine break-in period. Keep her under 4,200 RPM's, don't lug the engine, avoid cruising at the same speed and RPM's for extended periods of time. After that...let er rip! |
Please let me know if you find any other deals like this. I would love to buy a $60K Porsche with an instant $15K discount after only one year!
I'm thinking if you sell in the next three years you won't be losing a heck of allot money, certainly not the usual 40% hit a new car owner takes after four years. |
This was my #2 choice:

some guy offered him $35K! ouch.
LOL Maybe if he threw in the missing valve caps :D I should offer the bidder my car, maybe he'll swap me for an Xbox |
