Very Poor FM Radio Reception
I have the stock radio, the CDR 23. I live in the NY suburbs, so there are many FM radio stations around with strong transmitting signals. No problem receiving signals in my other cars. But the FM radio reception in the Boxster is awful, almost nonexistent, mostly static.
Does it sound like the antenna cable might have fallen out of the back of the radio? Is this a common issue with these cars? Any other thoughts?

To answer the original question, the stock CDR 23 radio in my 2003 S has had marginal FM reception since I bought it new compared to other cars I've owned during this time - Hondas, Acuras and BMWs. I got a new windshield in my Boxster a little over a year ago. If I had known about the newer antenna amplifier at that time, I might have considered doing the upgrade.

I'm not clear, what does the new windshield have to do with the amplifier?

The Pelican forum link provided by pomerlo discussed removing a sun visor and interior trim around the windshield to change the antenna amplifier. When my windshield was replaced, all of that was removed as part of the process.
