Camshaft Codes
Just had bunch of work done. Water pump, thermo, front Motor mount, plugs and tubes.
Check engine light on when I picked it up. Mech said to drive a bit then put some more antifreeze in. I burped it and put another1.5 gallons in. Thinking this would get florid of blinking temp light and code. Code remained so I checked it. 0341 and 1397 camshaft sensor codes. I reset them and keeping fingers crossed. Any thoughts? |
IMO get another mechanic. Your coolant was down by 1.5 gallons? Was the CEL on before you took it to the shop?

When I brought this in the code was for fuel pressure. i had them install new sensor but turns out the problem was frayed wires - mice!!!
That code is no longer firing. Now it's the 0341 and 1397. Car runs fine BTW. I'm not as worried about the coolant - he was rushing to get car to me Friday afternoon and said to add more coolant. I was very willing to do so. But the new code is a pain in the arse. The mice eaten wires got me worried. |

First: Were either one or both of these codes present before you took the car in for the recent work?? If not:: Then because both sensors are throwing codes after work has been done, I would be looking for something common to both sensors. wiring or a wiring connection common to both sensors may have been disturbed when the recent work was done. Wiring may look ok but be to close to spark plug coils or some other electrical component that is causing the cam position sensor signal to be disrupted. |

Then check over all the work done before the codes showed up. Sounds like the work the shop did triggered the top and code problems. |
Sometimes going to a mechanic is like going to the doctor. You come out worse than you went in.
|
I would take it back to the shop that did the work as they "repaired frayed wiring" chewed by mice. A rather large clue to your current problem!!!!!!
One of the reasons I refuse to take any of my cars to a shop. I can mess up just as bad as they can for less money.;) |
Thanks all. Taking back to shop tomorrow.

Still no luck clearing camshaft sensor codes. Is it time to go to dealer?
