Probably

Not nescessarly. Some chain noise just after a start for a few secondes is normal.

Start with simple things first.

When was the last time the oil filter housing was replaced ? You can buy a housing with the filter for under $30.00. And it worth every penny believe me. I did last spring and it eliminated the chain noise that I got. It also eliminated an annoying valve tappet sound from the engine. The housing got a bypass valve at the bottom that may corrode and get stucked.

Also make sure you put the correct grade oil and replace with a good quality oil.

Good luck

I get that nagging rattle every upon the first start of the day and every time the car has sat for more than a few hours. I've read it's normal. A few weeks back I thought maybe it was the starter not expediently retracting... pulled it... was perfect. So... ratttly chain.

Changed the oil and filter yesterday... cut the filter... very few... very few of those dark colored plastic bits. About 6 half-the size of a pin head. Likely from the rails. So... normal.

Pomerlo offers good advice.

The lifters and chain tensioners are hydraulic. They will rattle until they have built up pressure.

Yes,..But Iam surprised its so hit and mis,..its driven daily some days its noisy some days just fine,..I will change my oil canister to see if that changes anything Thanks Pomerlo

FWIW, that noise almost entirely went away for me after switching from Mobil 1 0w40 to Joe Gibbs DT40. Which could easily be a coincidence.

I don't know how I'd feel putting Amazon Basics oil in my Box, but it seems to have kicked Liqui-Moly's a$$

Who is brave enough to try it?

Any thoughts?
