AC In The Leather Seats
My rental car today from Avis has Air Conditioned Leather Seats. I got upgraded to a big a$$ Caddy. It is awesome. I wish the Boxster had this option. I really don't like leather because it is soooo hot. All leather seats should be air cooled!!

I have a fat friend in a Lexus and he loves the cooled seats. It would be nice, but there is something about sticking to leather I kind of like. It's about as close to S&M as my wife will allow.
|
I think Merc does it too with the SLK. Sweating my ass off in July in El Paso with an engine inches from my back doesn't make for a comfortable ride.
|
that has no place in sports car! (10 demerits)
|
My wife's Expedition has it - and it's great! No more sweaty back in the summertime. :D

At least 10 demerits! Maybe even a good whack on the Pee-Pee! - it's a Sports Car, not some bulging, girlie, boulevard, luxo-cruiser! Sally Carrera might go for it, but Steve McQueen never would... Happy Motyoring!... Jim'99 |
I'm pretty sure there was a time when purists opposed air conditioners in sports cars period.

True, but that was before Global Warming! |

I'll take the air cooled seats thankyouverymuch.... |
MN, whack on the pee pee? What twisted school was that??
cup holders takes the cake. In Germany they don't put them in Porsches. Its purely an AMerican accessory. They concentrate on driving on tha side of the ocean. We try and have everything going on at home, in the car! p.s. there's a difference between high tech for driving and high tech for pampering. But hey I'm about to walk into my $120 a month gym, I like pampering too! |
What does not having ass sweat have to do with a purist sports car? Kind of a weak argument.
|
"What does not having ass sweat have to do with a purist sports car?"
Weight. The seat loses the weight of the AC assembly while allowing the sweaty ass to lose weight faster itself. :) |

For some reason I just can't see you driving a big old Caddy :) Also, is there a thread with pictures of your car ? I would love to see the inside... Nick |

YOu hit the nail on the head. If Porsche offered AC seats I'd take em. BUt first I'm trying to get my damn things heated!! |

me, well I would much prefer a manual top vs. an automatic one.
It would save weight, avoid costly repair issues and I see absolutely no benefit to having the car do it for me while taking 3X's as long to do it. Using ball bearings or wheels to smooth out the travel of the top going up and down on a track would be my choice and inexpensive to fix and maintain. I already hear one side of my top making a fussy sound when lowering. p.s. to avoid sweaty ass on REALLY hot days I would put a towel in the fridge and place it on the seat before jumping in. Keeps the sweat off the leather while the AC kicks in. But alas summer is behind us. I think they sell those steering wheel covers that get warm as you brush on it, has SHarper image written all over it probably. |

If it was optional I would consider ordering without it... I've only used it maybe a dozen times. |

Same here. I don't like the drop in performance, range or the added heat the engine experiences. On both the Boxster and my Esprit, I never use it except for the obligatory minute-a-month for circulating the compressor oil to keep everyting lubed and the 'O' rings pliable... Happy Motoring!... Alas, you've used it. There are just some days when you need it. I admit at this latitude (2 hours south from the 45th paralell (a.k.a. "midway to the north pole) there's only a few days a year I'll ever use it. I prefer the top down. But there are some days. . . . But I really need those heated seats. Damn!!! |
