Thanks guys!...
@tonythetiger- I actually got it as a gift myself. I have a 2007 Carrera S Cab though, and the part# on this gas cap is 997 201 980 00. I’m pretty sure it fits on the Boxster too though. Check with one of the parts sellers like Pelican or Suncoast. |

It is a great looking gas cap though, your girlfriend should like it! |

I'm sure the gas stations used PA as an example in their argument! |

It's funny how it's too dangerous to pump gas in NJ but not the rest of the country. Go figure. |

Growing up in NY and then moving to NJ, I was not used to having someone pump my gas, but got used to it after a while and appreciated it more in the winter months like Paul said when it was cold out. However, one time, a gas attendant carelessly swung the gas pump handle very hard against my rear quarter panel (luckily it was my SUV, and not the Porsche), and left a deep paint chip. I was not pleased. Still, I’m used to not pumping the gas now, and will let the attendant check out the cool gas cap here in Jersey each time I have to fill up. Lol.

My wife, kids never know anything else. We go on a road trip and they wonder what the hell I'm doing pumping gas.
In NJ attends don't fill motorcycles. That you have to do your self. (2) things I hate about pump your own. 1 - All the extra steps to pay cash. Go into the store and pay an estimate of what you need, Fill up, go back in to get change 2 - I have to do a serious wash of my hands afterwards I don't think it's a safety thing as much as it's a job creation thing |
Ridiculously overpriced. Ridiculous. That's what I want to do: Impress the attendant.

Are you spilling gas on yourself? Are you using Diesel? Why would you need to wash your hands? Many stations now have cleaning wipes at the pump. |

My fuel door lock is wonky, and I haven't yet pulled the wheel... removed the liner... and gotten up under there to repair it. Likely I'll be scouting that cap when the repair is completed. ;) Cheers! |

The gas tax in NJ went up an extra $0.23 per gallon on November 1, 2016, it was a lot cheaper before that! The money is supposed to fund rail and road projects, which are certainly needed. The NJ gas attendants are a strange lot. I once had one tell me that I put the gas cap on too tightly the last time, as if it was me that did it and not the last attendant who fueled me! You definitely need to keep an eye on them if you have a nice car!
|
The test of any NJ gas attendant is if they figure out and use the hook on the gas lid to hang the gas cap lanyard on.

The weight reduction in your wallet is definitely good for +10hp! ;)
I cut the tether off, my original gas cap didn't have one. I place the cap upside down on the cowl, there is a cutout for the gas cap right there (or at least that what I think it's for). |
